Thames River Apple Users Group
(TRAUG)
Serving southeastern Connecticut and western Rhode Island since 1982.
The original club was called South East Connecticut Apple User Group (aka SECAUG). It was started as an Apple II club in 1982 with around 12 members. The second president was William Johnston in 1984. The club was incorporated as a social group in CT. Problems with the state charging the club a high fee each year resulted in the group disbanding and restarted as what is know as TRAUG today. The first newsletter was a one sheet printed on an AppleWriter printer. As the Mac became the replacement for the Apple II, the group was mixed between the two platforms. For a time the group had a Disk of the Month both for Apple and Mac. As the Apple II receeded from popularity the group became all Mac.
